Airport Authority Hosts Community Meeting in Chula Vista
Meeting provides details on proposed airport improvements
SAN DIEGO – November 26, 2007– The San Diego County Regional Airport Authority invites the public to attend a community meeting on November 29 in Chula Vista to learn more about the Phase 1 Airport Master Plan and draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for near-term improvements at San Diego International Airport. These improvements include a ten-gate build-out of Terminal 2, a dual-level roadway in front of Terminal 2 and various parking, roadway and airfield improvements.
The November 29 meeting in Chula Vista marks the seventh in a series of open-house format community meetings held throughout San Diego County during the public comment period for the draft EIR, which concludes on January 4, 2008. The Airport Authority invites the public to attend a formal presentation on the Phase 1 Airport Master Plan and draft EIR at 6 p.m. and get their questions answered by airport experts from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Chula Vista City Hall, located at 276 4th Ave, Chula Vista, 91910.
In addition to community meetings, the Airport Authority is currently offering “Terminals to Tarmac” airport tours at San Diego International Airport. The public may sign up for airport tours at the community meeting, or online at www.sanplan.com.
The Phase 1 Airport Master Plan is a fiscally responsible guideline for airport development addressing demand for air service through 2015. To review environmental documents or for more information, visit the new Web site at www.sanplan.com.
The San Diego County Regional Airport Authority was established by state law in 2003 to operate San Diego International Airport and to address the region’s long-term air transportation needs. The Airport Authority is governed by a nine-member appointed Board representing all areas of the County. San Diego International Airport — funded through user fees and not local taxes — served some 17.5 million passengers in 2006.
