Economic Impact
San Diego International Airport ranks as one of the most powerful economic engines in the region.
- $9.9 billion total annual impact on the regional economy, including $2.6 billion in spending by visitors who arrive by air.
- 115,000 jobs, or one of every 16 jobs in the region, are directly or indirectly related to the operation of the airport and the economic activity it supports.
- Nearly 6,100 workers are employed by the airport’s airline companies, air freight companies, airline support companies, concessionaires and airport passenger service tenants, plus ground transportation companies, government entities and construction contractors, among others.
